This, music museum, see item, is a five page letter, written, by Jack TEAGARDEN, to Addie Gault, who was his future wife. Jack TEAGARDEN, who is known as one of the great leaders of jazz music, the greatest jazz trombonist, and “scat” singer. He was with Paul Whiteman, partnered with Louis Armstrong, Tommy And Jimmy Dorsey Stan Gets, and so many other Jazz greats. This letter was sent from the “Hotel Syracuse” in Syracuse, New York. It is a five page letter, which includes the envelope, on a ” Hotel Syracuse” envelope. As a return address, Jack signed, J. Jack’s style of hand writing is so obvious with his letters, “T”, and ” F”. Each time he used these two letters, there is a huge loop at the top. Once you have studied his signatures and letters, his hand writing can be recognized, instantly. You can tell how sensitive Jack is and how simple he reacted to life. It is no wonder that Jack and Louis Armstrong we’re best of friends. This is my reading of this letter. Jack’s spelling wasn’t great! To the Sweetest Gal in the World. Having experienced knowing Addie and spending time with her, I realize just how dedicated Jack was to his music, and how sensitive he was to life. He was known as quite the drinker, but anyone who worked with him on stage said that he always played the best, no matter his condition. Many players said that, even when he was ill. You would never know by his singing or playing. Many would say that he sounded better after a few drinks.
