The letter was written to Hon Joseph Webster Allen on Franklin Roosevelt stationary with original envelope. The envelope reads Hon J Webster Allen Kindness of Mr Hoover. The letter itself reads “Hyde Park Feb 18th 1931 Dear “Mr Allen, I hope there is no possibility of the Nat. Crime Commission ceasing its labors – to do so at this point would be “criminal” in itself. The commission’s work was largely responsible for a public opinion that forced through use reforms and new programs in this – and moved 88 the other status are just getting interested. 1899 EDITH ROOSEVELT WIFE OF PRESIDENT THEODORE ROOSEVELT HANDWRITTEN SIGNED LETTER. Written on Albany, New York Executive Mansion Stationery while Roosevelt was Governor of New York. Sent to the wife of Spanish-American War Veteran Harry S. New who signed a letter authenticating it in 1930. New had been unable to attend a party at the Roosevelt’s and Mrs. Roosevelt wrote to express her regrets and extend another invitation for a future event. She mentions that her husband and other notables will be in attendance. This Vintage item is a great political collectible. It is in very good overall condition with wear at the edges and fold lines.
