Willie Moseley Estate: Thank you for looking at these wonderful autographs and. Stamps from the estate of the late Dr. Willie Moseley from Greenwood South Carolina. His massive original autographs were so impressive to view and his stamp collection was just as massive and he kept all of his autographs and stamps in pristine condition. I became curious about this Mr. (Professor at William & Mary College, Norfolk Division) William W. Seward from where many of Dr. Seward was a TRUE autograph collector and tried to collect the best of the mid-century literature names. The name of his book was “SKIRTS of the DEAD NIGHT”. I decided that I must find a copy and read it for myself after many of those great authors he reached out to wanted to read his book. So with the help of a very learned and dedicated Reference Assistant, Caroline F. At my library found a copy and of course it was located at William & Mary and V. I was so excited to get it. It is a small book but full of “WHO DONE IT” mystery. The chapters were described with vivid descriptions of the surroundings so that I could see this Noir thriller book in full black and white in my mind. It was a good read for a first novel; I think his only novel? I did have the “who done it” solved by page 79 (of 158 pages) but I was not yet sure just how the villain would be caught so that held my interest even more. I enjoyed the book and have enjoyed these autographs. The last date on the back cover of the “Due Date” page of the book was dated Mar. Now my mind wonders to think what those great authors thought of his book as they all seemed very pleased that he “the Professor at William & Mary” would use their books in his classroom teachings. I would have liked to have been a fly on the wall for a few of those lessons. Hand written letter to Professor Seward. The only date is Sept. The note paper is blue with her name & address & telephone letterhead and measures about 7 x 7 1/2. She was a socialite a violinist and a poet. I think her autograph is scarce. Her pen is difficult to read but her inscribed signature is clearly & easily recognized. Thank you for looking and please see all my autographs, stamps and PC’s in my store. Baudelaire, with mild browning, three horizontal letter folds, and two areas of paper loss of the adjoining sheet (due to the opening of the fold by the recipient) – in fine condition. “Translated:”December 4, 1862, Dear Sir, You can guess that, after the fine reception given to me by M. If the Paÿs wants the article about Salammbô, he will ask Michel Lévy, to whom I will deposit it. Regarding the Painter of Modern Life, so often received, and that Monsieur does not want to print, eventhough the article is paid, I will leave it for some time longer in the hands of M. Ribau, and on the day that it will be asked elsewhere, I will send it. I will have shown for a long time that I had patience and that I was a well-bred man. Show my letter to whoever seems good to you, to Le Chevalier, or to M. D`Anchald, whose instructions have not been obeyed. / As for you personally, thank you wholeheartedly for the benevolence you showed me in this matter. I do not have the Richard Wagner and Tannhäuser in Paris. But if I can not find a copy, what does it matter? I took your name for a copy of my complete works, which will inevitably be published next year. Yours sincerely – Ch. As for announcements, I understand that they are not redone. He collaborated with the journal `Paÿs`, which is mentioned here, and with the newspaper of the Empire. He was also the French publisher of Giuseppe Verdi. Salammbô (1862) is a historical novel by Gustave Flaubert. Baudelaire’s essay `Richard Wagner et Tannhäuser à Paris` was highly regarded. In 1860, Baudelaire became an ardent supporter of Richard Wagner. After attending three Wagner concerts in Paris in 1860, Baudelaire wrote to the composer: I had a feeling of pride and joy in understanding, in being possessed, in being overwhelmed, a truly sensual pleasure like that of rising in the air. Baudelaire`s writings contributed to the elevation of Wagner and to the cult of Wagnerism that swept Europe in the following decades.
