Henry Miller, 1938 handwritten letter, signed, from Villa Seurat, Paris. The letter is in Very Good condition, please see scans. It has been folded to fit into an envelope and is of European stationary size, measuring about 8.25 by 10.75. It has two binder holes (European style) punched along the left margin. Miller’s address, “18 Villa Seurat, Paris (XIV)” is noted at the top. The date appears on the reverse side, 4/4/37. ” The Villa Seurat was where Miller lived in Paris when he composed his groundbreaking novel, “Tropic of Cancer. The letter is addressed to a magazine editor, Mr. Braat, and concerns obtaining copies of a recent article written about Miller by one Mr. Miller also mentions the official working in the U. Censorship office who was sympathetic to Miller’s cause and who has requested copies of anything published about him. Miller also asks that a bill be forwarded to him for two copies of the review. The subject of the review may have been his “Tropic of Cancer, ” which was published in 1934, or a review of his second book, “Black Spring, ” published in 1936.
