Amazing handwritten manuscript letter from famed Italian Historian, author and politician, Pasquale Villari. The letter spans 3 pp. And is folded in an envelope that is tipped into a book entitled Storia Di Firenze which loosely translates to Story of Florence. This book was penned by Villari and is an 1898 First edition from Villari printed in Italian in Florence. An amazing letter and book from this important figure from history. The letter is in Italian and has writing on outside of envelope from a previous owner which reads This envelope contains an autroraph letter from the famous author. Also, the title page boasts a purple ink stamp that shows this book was owned by a college professor in Florence originally. Letter in Very Good condition with only gentle signs of wear. Book in Good condition. Hardcover marbled boards and vellum spine show gentle wear. Some hinge separation to top 1 of front board where it meets the vellum spine. Paste downs free of hinge cracking. Binding is strong and tight and all pages are secured firmly. The text block is in Good condition. Writing and markings on title page. All in all quite sound. And subsequently fled to Florence. There he devoted himself to teaching and historical research in the public libraries with the object of collecting new materials on Girolamo Savonarola. In consequence of which he was appointed professor of history at Pisa. A second volume appeared in 1861, and the work, which soon came to be recognized as an Italian classic, was translated into various foreign languages.
