JOAN CRAWFORD handwritten letter from the Hollywood Canteen. The Hollywood Canteen operated at 1451 Cahuenga Blvd in Hollywood between October 3, 1942, and November 22, 1945 as a club offering food, dancing and entertainment for servicemen usually on their way overseas. Even though the majority of visitors were US servicemen, the Canteen was open to servicemen of allied countries as well as women in all branches of service. A serviceman’s ticket for admission was his uniform and everything at the canteen was free of charge. A movie titled Hollywood Canteen was released in 1945 with Joan Crawford cameo appearance. Nice to mat and frame a photo of Joan from that movie with this piece. Post Card from the Hollywood Canteen with hand written message to a serviceman’s wife about her husband visiting the Canteen that evening. Uncommon autograph I’ve only seen two others of Crawford Canteen post cards. Joan writes, “Hello Rosemary, Bob is at the Canteen and sends greetings, Joan Crawford”.
