Evelyn Lincoln - private secretary to John F. Kennedy, handwritten letter
Evelyn Lincoln, longtime private secretary to John F. One page handwritten letter on U. Senate stationery to Pennsylvania Republican Congressman Carol Kearns. Lincolns thanks Kearns for a complimentary letter. She dates the letter simply as Wednesday but the docket indicates it was written on June 1, 1960 while, while John F. Kennedy was campaigning in California for the presidency. There are file dockets and notation at the top of the letter, one indicating that the Congressman wanted to keep the letter. Lincoln is of course well known to autograph collectors as a prolific proxy signer of letters and photographs of Kennedy while a Senator and President. Examples of her signature are desired by both Kennedy collectors and autograph collectors but full handwritten letters on Senator or White House letterhead are uncommon and provide nice opportunities for handwriting and signature studies of her natural hand and her forgeries on behalf of JFK. This item is offered by Custodians of History, Inc. I deal primarily in historic autographs. The item “Evelyn Lincoln – private secretary to John F. THIS CARD WAS SENT TO THE AUTHOR AND SPORTS JOURNALIST GERALD MATTHEWS. REGARDING HIS MOST FAMOUS BOOK’BRIDESHEAD REVISITED. EVELYN WAUGH, PIERS COURT, STINCHCOMBE, DURSLEY GLOS. POSTMARK DATED 2nd JULY 1954. Chokey was a minor character who had no further function to perform. Sebastian Flyte was an important character and in the novelist’s opinion was treated at suitable length. Anthony Blanch fulfilled his prophetic functions successfully twice. The novelist did not lose interest in any of the characters. EVELYN HAS WRITTEN THIS CARD HOWEVER HE HAS NOT SIGNED IT. THIS IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. IT HAS MINOR OLD RESIDUE ON THE REVERSE DUE TO THIS BEING FROM A SCRAPBOOK AND A COUPLE OF SMALL MARKS. PLEASE LOOK AT ALL 3 X PICTURES. This Hand Signed Original Letter/Card has come from our Collection and we have included a Free brief Bio on Evelyn Waugh. Evelyn has hand written this in black ink (Fountain Pen) and it was written at the time. A Very Good Prominent letter/Card which looks a lot better than the scan suggests. This would look Excellent if framed. Very sadly Evelyn Waugh passed away on the 10th April 1966.
