1822 First Duke of Wellington handwritten letter – Waterloo victor. A letter dated the 16th of May 1822 written by Arthur Wellesley the 1st duke of Wellington. Written in the third person as follows. The Duke of Wellington presents his compliments to Mr Smith and begs to acquaint him that excepting some china presented to him by the King of Prussia and the King of Saxony and which some of his friends have come to look at, there is no object of curiosity in his house, which, in whatever glowing colours it may suit the editors of newspapers to represent it, is a simple private dwelling house. 24cm X 19cm – a nice size for framing.
