NAPOLEON BONAPARTE, Emperor of France, exceptional manuscript letter signed “Napoleon” dated 03/28/1807, d iscussing the military budget for the Napoleonic wars. Oversized 24″ x 48″, museum-quality framed display presentation. Includes original PSA/DNA QuickOpinion Result Letter as “LIKELY GENUINE”. You have noticed that the budget for remounts, for the month of March is already spent. Given that this article of the war administration budget was only 3,500,000, where as credits for January, February and March altogether were about 4,500,000. I will probably give the remounts for April. It is then necessary to take a compliment for this department from the 14,885,358 Francs that are allotted in the budget, as “additional emergency funds” for various departments. I have taken these measures because I believe that the remounts expenses for the year will be more than 6,000,000 Francs. For that reason, I have issued a decree which increases the budget of the remounts by 2,500,000 Francs, and decreases the “additional emergency funds”. May god bless you. Osterode, March 28, 1807. The body of the letter was written in an unknown hand. Huge framed display measures approximately 2′ x 4′; inset autograph document measures appx. 8″ x 7″, with toning consistent with age, display. NAPOLEON BONAPARTE, Emperor of France, manuscript note signed “Napoleon” dated 07/26/1811 with co-signers at the Château de Saint-Cloud. Napoleon writes the prefect of the Lot and boldly signs it in the margin of the report. Report signed by the Minister of War, Clarke, Duke of Feltre, and annotated and countersigned by NAPOLEON about a desertion of conscripts. It is not the old soldiers who desert, but the conscripts of 1811 provided by the department of the Lot. A certain number of these conscripts having successively abandoned the depot, they were obliged to consign the others to Fort Saint-Jean; many of them having taken advantage of the escape, of the moment of exit required by the parade and other exercises. The prefect of the Lot, who had knowledge of their flight, had 43 of them arrested. Otherwise in fine condition. Signature is bold and clear. Château de Saint-Cloud was a palace in France, and the main seat of the Bonaparte family. It was later destroyed in the Franco-Prussian war. Elegantly framed and archivally matted to handsome matte black frame with gold accents. Exquisite PH-neutral navy blue brushed suede mat. Also includes descriptive museum style plaque and featuring handsome antique portrait of NAPOLEON framed together under heavyweight, conservation-grade 98% UV-BLOCKING polystyrene pane.
