For sale is an original letter and envelope handwritten and signed by Mary Sue Hubbard, wife of Scientology founder, L. Ron Hubbard, during her incarceration in the Federal Medical Center Prison at Lexington, Kentucky in 1983. NOTE: The name and address of the letter’s recipient have been blurred purposefully in the photos ONLY , for confidentiality purposes. The letter and envelope themselves have not been blurred. In this personal letter, she discusses her conditions in prison, her hopes for parole, and the Guardian’s Office’s role in Scientology, as well as other things. Ron Hubbard, founder of Scientology. In 1969, she was appointed by her husband to the position of “Controller for Life” of Scientology’s “Guardian’s Office”, which was tasked with defending the Church of Scientology from threats to Scientology world-wide. In August, 1978, she and 10 other members of the Guardian’s Office were indicted by the U. Federal Government on various charges ranging from “Aiding and Abetting”, “Conspiracy”, and “False Declarations before a Grand Jury”, to “Theft of Government Property” i. Burglary, “Obstruction of Justice”, and “Interception of Oral Communication” i. Mary Sue was specifically charged with “Conspiracy” relating to illegal covert activities (Scientology’s operation “Snow White”) conducted by the Guardian’s Office against government and private agencies. It is has been said that “Operation Snow White” extended to 136 government agencies like the I. Coast Guard Intelligence, etc, foreign embassies and consulates, and private organizations. She appealed repeatedly, and eventually received a reduced sentence of four years. She finally entered Federal prison in January, 1983, where she remained for about a year. This letter is written on one sheet of lightly lined paper, front and back, and was written after Mary Sue Hubbard had been in Federal prison for about 6 months.
